Living in the Park

“Living in the Park” resides at Johannsenstr 3, 32423 Minden. This modern building is located on a 10,000 sq.m large property belonging to Glacis, the green belt of Minden city centre. A connection to public transport is provided by the central bus station close by. Social and cultural institutions as well as the city centre shopping area are within convenient walking distance.

Our habitation offers rooms for 15 inhabitants and is divided into two residential units. A sixteenth room is available for guests and possible future inhabitants.

One residential unit consists of eight single rooms and four bathrooms. The latter are shared by two inhabitants each. Furthermore, every residential group owns a utility room and a large community area including kitchen and living room. One single room and one bathroom per residential unit is  equipped with facilities for wheelchairs. In addition, the institution contains a nursing bathroom with a moveable bath tub. For community events, activities and group work an adequately sized group room is available. Offices of employees are assigned to the individual living areas and offer room for one-on-one-interviews and group work with smaller groups. At the time of moving-in inhabitants are provided with two keys. One for the front door and one for their individual room. The habitation is part of Minden-Lübecke's community-related social-psychiatric provision and cooperates closely with other institutions of Club 74. For instance the meeting place, assisted living, day care centre and the rehabilitation for mentally ill people.

Contacts to other responsible institutions of public welfare and health care are maintained. Especially the cooperation with the diaconisse of Minden concerning the shop-floor level and the hospital of psychiatry and psychotherapy in Lübbecke concerning emergency care deserve emphasis. The habitation is considered to be a fully working nursing home where day-structuring for those inhabitants who are not capable any more or not yet capable of visiting the shop floor for  disabled people takes place within the house.
