The club was founded in 1974 to support mentally ill and handicapped people. The founding year 1974 was responsible for its name.

In the course of a quarter century the initiative of relatives of mentally ill and professional supporters has developed into a sound and strong institution with the help of the country NRW, the city of Minden and the financial aid of other institutions, which offers a broad variety of help to mentally ill people.

Since 1974 there are three houses where mentally ill people can meet: Bad Oeynhausen, Minden and Lübbecke.

In 1983 a house for periodical stay was founded in Lübbecke, which has been changed into an institution of rehabilitation in 1994.

Since 1985 the ambulant offer of guarded living exists. This form of help is nowadays available all over the region.

The Club 74 e.V. established a house of daily meeting for mentally ill in Minden in 1994.

In 1998 the offer of the Club 74e.V. is completed by a continuous hostel. This house is called “Wohnstätte am Westerbach” and is situated in Lübbecke.

Since the end of 1999 the “Mindener Institut für Rehabilitation” has its residence in Minden.

The Club 74e.V. offers places of employment in the “Café Crazy Cup” for mentally ill and handicapped since the end of 1999.

Since February 2010, the habitation “Living in the Park” offers rooms for
